Type: Research Paper
Description: A participatory rural appraisal (PRA) conducted in the Al-Mujaylis area, Tihama Coastal Plain, Yemen provided a contribution, as a bottom-up approach, to the assessment of the needs of communities and their views on how to avoid groundwater degradation. It was found that PRA tools could be applied usefully in an area w ith data scarcity and a culturally different context. It is concluded that adopting a research approach between top down and bottom up is most valuable and effective.
